Manufacturer's Warranty Frame - 5 years; brake - 5 years; parts and labor - 90 days About Recumbent Exercise Bikes Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don't take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out. The term recumbent literally means "lying down." Exercising in a recumbent or reclining position allows the user to have full ergonomic back support, without causing strain on the arms, neck and shoulders, all of which can be common effects of using an upright bicycle. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program. About Merit Fitness Merit Fitness is part of Johnson Health Tech, one of the largest manufacturers of fitness equipment in the world. They are committed to designing, engineering, and manufacturing superior products for health clubs and homes. | Customer Reviews: great bike June 9, 2007 puter 26 out of 27 found this review helpful
This bike is great and you gotta love the price! It was easy to put together and I like the different modes that you can select (ex: weight loss, cardio, manual, etc...) I'm happy with the purchase. I'm just getting back into an excersize program, so I didn't want to spend thousands, so this was the perfect product for me.

I was looking for a machine that wouldn't put a lot of stress on my joints. I use it 3-5 times a week and love it. I bought it December of 2007 and it's still in perfect condition. It can be adjusted to increase the tension plus the seat can slide forward or back to fit leg length. It's been a great addition to my home gym.
Review of my recent purchase of the Merit 720B Recumbent Exercise Bike March 16, 2010 Homer H. Howell (Grand Terrace, CA) I overstressed my back last year to the point I can not walk any appreciable distant that would help me lose weight and I am overweight. I am enjoying this machine very much. It is more than I expected. It has a very comfortable seat and the programs on the screen are presented very well.
I recommend it for anyone who cannot walk for weight lose or for a build up of your lower body.

Good Exercise Bike March 2, 2010 Babs (Central Massachusetts) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
For the low cost, this is a good bike. The toughest part of the assembly (and much easier with two people) is the part that holds the display and the shroud that goes over top of it. The instructions are not great, but if you are somewhat mechanically inclined, there should be no problem. The only minor complaint I have is that the manual is NOT helpful with regard to the display. It does not instruct you how to view calories or level...but if you mess around with the buttons enough, you'll figure it out.
I chose this product because I didn't want to take the chance of encountering the "burnt rubber smell" of comparable Schwinns, and am pleased with how the product works. The seat is a bit squeaky at level 10 (I am doing interval training), but I ignore it.
NOTE: The box is extremely heavy to move and the product is not well packed. The plastic shroud got broken when the UPS driver dropped the box off the end of the truck so I had to have it sent back and get another. This is just a warning to BE CAREFUL.
Merit 720B Recumbent Bike April 6, 2010 D. Foley (Springfield, MA) My goal was to find an exercise bike that was comfortable to sit on for more than 10 minutes. Price was also a factor. I wanted to stay under $300, if possible. After researching different bikes online and trying a limited number in stores, I chose the Merit 720B. I've only had the bike about three weeks as I write this. I have been very happy with the quality of the bike. The different programs are challenging and can be adjusted as necessary. The flywheel makes very little noise and the change from one level to another is very smooth. Putting the bike together was not too difficult, taking a little over an hour. The small parts are bagged to coincide with their use in the set up process and the proper tools are provided. If you can have a friend help with construction, I'd recommend it. There are points where an extra set of hands would help. I can also report that support for the bike is terrific. The sensor that measures speed and calories became damaged or misaligned during shipment. I called the support number and spoke to a representative who ordered a new sensor and helped arrange for a technician to come to my home and install it. Also, after the first few uses I've had to re-tighten the seat bolts. Since then I check them periodically and they have remained tight.
